In the early stages of Curated By, I found myself running into the same problem over and over.
I would be venue hunting for a client and receiving proposals from multiple spaces, all in different formats, with varying availability and ways of pricing.
Comparing them efficiently was pretty close to impossible.
- One venue has a room rental, the other doesn’t.
- One charges an admin fee, the other bakes it into their minimum spend rate.
- One only offers open bar packages, the other allows for consumption.
A lot to follow for a client who just wants to throw a get-together…
I couldn’t find a platform to streamline this all, so I built it myself.
THE IDEA (dropdown)
Clients shouldn’t have to stress to find the right venue. They should be able to sit back and let venues sell to them. The idea is to have venues bid for the client’s business, not the other way around.
For restaurants, it brings fully vetted guests ready to book, reducing wasted time on cold leads. It also adds exposure with no upfront costs to sign up.
Through the Curated By portal, venues submit their bids for pending event inquiries. Clients can then see all their options lined up in the same format for easy comparison. The beta version of the portal went live recently, and so far, the feedback has been extremely positive.
I’m proud to share that it’s a full-stack application with around 10,000 lines of code. One year in, I have 70+ venue partners and a platform that makes the entire process 10,000x more efficient.
